AAS Project: 714 Main Street – Renovation of an Office Tower
714 Main Street/XTO Building is located in an established downtown area of Ft. Worth with other historical buildings.
Cladding with Manufactured Architectural Stone
This project was a restoration of historic office tower. The building renovation replaced various building materials covering the structure with architectural cast stone and precast concrete. AAS designed and fabricated stone products for the first several floors of the building such that they would blend seamlessly with rest of the building covered in terracotta and other older stone materials.
AAS team used a special pigmentation relating to region where the building is located. Color and texture consistency was achieved through a special mix design that was then entered into a computer model of the batch plant.
The original artwork of the Roman Soldier Heads was not available. Recreating them required new artwork and custom molds.
All AAS team had to start were the old photographs of the building with Roman Soldier Heads. AAS team worked with an artist to recreate the the original artwork. It then used the newly designed artwork to create a special series of molds.
Black blasting material was added to the batch design to achieve the look of the original heads produced in terracotta.
