AAS Press Release – 2014 Golden Trowel Awards
Sept 19, 2014
Advanced Architectural Stone (AAS – formerly Advanced Cast Stone) won 2014 Golden Trowel Awards at the TMC Convention.
The projects are:
- Sundance Square West Building (The Westbrook)
- TCU Worth Hills Village
- Promise Land West Church
Sundance Square West Building
Sundance Square West Building also known as The Westbrook has a new 6 story Class A office building facing a new 3 block open-air plaza in downtown Fort Worth, Texas.
Cast stone is the building material of architectural design used on all buildings within the 35 block Sundance Square area. However, cast stone is used differently on almost all buildings. On The Westbrook Building cast stone was used in the overall design of the building to be reminiscent of the Art Deco structures located in many areas of this city. Most of those Art Deco designs are incorporated into either over and under panels at all windows and entrance ways.
All cast stone in the 93,000 square feet building is produced by Advanced Architectural Stone.

TCU Worth Hills Village Phase 1, Marion Hall & Pamela & Edward Clark Hall
This is a new series of buildings on a university campus which will be used for housing, dining and meeting spaces.
Architectural cast stone was the primary design element for the extensive covered walk-ways called the Collin-aide™, connecting corridors, and entrances for this project.
Cast stone was used to create the architectural interest of the building at public areas emphasizing both a strong radius design and extraordinary focus where the buildings join each other.
Architect: KSQ Architects, PC
Mason: Wilks Masonry
North DPS Training Center, Southlake, TX
The building style is often called Texas Frank Lloyd Wright™ providing for large overhangs, hidden balconies, clear-story windows and the exclusive use of brick and cast stone. Architectural cast stone accented each of the design elements, with exaggerated protrusions of angular cast stone pieces. The deputy director of fire services pointed to the cast stone signage on each side of the building as a community service. The signage was both elegant and in keeping with the structure and large enough to point residents to the right area of the complex in times of emergency.
